Developed by a Belgian gynecologist

The story of Shinncare in Dr. Dirk Smet’s gynecology practice. As a gynecologist, he observed for many years how often women experience intimate symptoms such as dryness, irritation, a burning sensation, redness, or discomfort during hormonal changes—for example, after childbirth, while breastfeeding, or during menopause.

Although these symptoms are common, Dr. Smet noticed that there were few gentle and tailored solutions available that took into account the sensitivity of the vulvar and intimate skin.

Based on that practical experience, the idea for Shinncare was born: a Belgian femcare brand that aims to support women with reliable, gentle, and effective products.

After extensive research and testing, Dr. Smet developed the first Shinncare: the Intimate Oil Spray . This nourishing oil spray was developed to help soften, protect, and soothe the intimate skin in cases of dryness and sensitivity. Today, that same gynecological expertise still forms the basis of every Shinncare.

Dr. Elisabeth Smet supports the Shinncare with her medical expertise. She helps develop innovative formulas and answers questions about intimate comfort, hormonal changes, and women’s health. Dr. Smet is an obstetrician-gynecologist at the Westmead Institute of Maternal Fetal Medicine in Sydney.

The launch of Shinncare

When it became clear that small-scale distribution within Dr. Smet’s practice wasn’t feasible, he decided to think bigger and, together with his sonKarl-Filip,Shinncare theShinncare brand.

Shinncare officially launched in 2021. The brand and its sole product at the time, the Intimate Oil Spray , received positive feedback from users and colleagues. In 2022, theproduct linewastherefore expanded to includeproducts for pregnancy and the postpartum period. A decision that once again proved to be the right one and was well received!

The team

In 2023, Aude joined the team as a marketing consultant. Her addition helped professionalize Shinncare shape its strategy for the coming years. In 2024, she became Karl-Filip’s business partner so Shinncare to chart Shinncare course together.

With the support of Dr. Elisabeth Smet, a family member and gynecologist, and the ongoing commitment of Dr. Dirk Smet, Shinncare remains Shinncare to caring for every woman every day.
